Why

Navigation friction kept users from finding critical in-person payments content, despite high overall traffic.

What

The left-side navigation had 67 items under 10 labels. This created cognitive overload and made relevant information hard to find.

How

I interviewed internal stakeholders and clients to understand how users consume content. I validated the findings against Google Analytics data and rebuilt the information architecture around clearer conceptual groupings.

Result

Navigation went from 67 items under 10 labels to 47 under 7. One year after launch, analytics showed less negative feedback, more traffic to previously underused areas, and about 25% more traffic across the in-person payments section.
